When visiting my sister who lives in Loule, Portugal, I purchased a piece of Sao Jorge 7 month old cheese. It is one of the best cheeses that I have ever tasted, with a very good and long lasting after-taste. I have purchased some more to take back to England.

While looking over the "old" guest book I noticed a posting from a person living in Boise, ID with a relative by the name of Albano do Matos of Sao Jorge. Does anyone know who this person is or how I may contact them? I believe this person and I are related. Thank you!

My father, Luis Teixeira Sousa, is from Santo Amaro. I was there with my wife on our honeymoon earlier this year. I got to see most of Sao Jorge, including Santo Amaro and the house in which my father was born and raised. His father was Manuel Teixeira Sousa after whom I am named. I found Sao Jorge to be a breathtakingly beautiful island and I cannot wait to go back.

😉 :-) Thank you for this great site. I am looking for any information regarding family members of my maternal grandmother Ernestina C. deBorba from Norte Pequeno. I was in Sao Jorge in 2001 with my daughter and couldn't believe how beautiful it was. As a child I heard about the old country and pictured a barren island. What a wonderful surprise. The people were wonderful.

I would like to hear from anyone from Topo. My grandfather Manuel de Silveira was born there in the mid 1800's. I think I am related to Guilherma da Silveira who helped establish the island in the 1400's
